Local writer talks story on current projects
Adam Collings, a

resident of the city for 14

years, has distinguished

himself from the crowd.

Beginning with his first book entitled “Sendero”

which was published in 1978, Collings

went on to release more works of hsitorical non fiction,
some of which have sold over 300,000 copies.

His critically acclaimed book, “California:

West of the West,” offers a new angle for

readers to experience California’s rich history.

“It’s a story of the founding of California

as an outpost for Western civilization,” he

said. “The book opens by recounting an epic poem
from the early 16th century wherein a caliph or ruler
named Calafia reigns supreme over her
caliphate or kingdom dubbed California.”
According to Executive Director of the California Historical

Society, David Crosson, Collings' book is, “A

novel and fascinating approach to California

history.”
