It is that time of year again in Baja when everyone gathers at the Pyramid Resort to meet and greet some of Baja`s favorite authors and storytellers while sampling some of the best wines of the region.
The setting is absolutely spectacular, a large terrace at the Pyramid Resort overlooking the blue Pacific Ocean, accompanied by good food and excellent wine, lots of nice people… what more could one ask for? Some of the authors on hand will include

Adam Collings, a

resident of the city for 14

years, has distinguished

himself from the crowd.

Beginning with his first book entitled “Sendero”

which was published in 1978, Collings

went on to release more works of hsitorical non fiction,
some of which have sold over 300,000 copies.

His critically acclaimed book, “California:

West of the West,” offers a new angle for

readers to experience California’s rich history.

“It’s a story of the founding of California

as an outpost for Western civilization,” he

said. “The book opens by recounting an epic poem
from the early 16th century wherein a caliph or ruler
named Calafia reigns supreme over her
caliphate or kingdom dubbed California.”

MAR 22     Sierra Sage GENERAL MEETING:     HISTORIAN ADAM COLLINGSBest selling author and historian Adam Collings will be presenting a program based on his recently released book, California/West of the West, at our March 22 gathering of Sierra Sage. Noted for his extensive research and attention to detail, Collings will offer us a well-documented view of Southern California as it appeared before the advent of Western civilization, sharing observations made about flora, fauna, and the cultures encountered by the first Europeans to arrive upon the scene. Backed up with rarely viewed or studied primary source material provided by private collectors, the Franciscan Order and the Southwest Museum, this evening promises not only entertaining but course-altering insight and information. Collings is a resident of San Clemente, docent at Mission San Juan Capistrano and in Walt Disney’s Barn, and a member of the Huntington Westerners, California Mission Studies Association and Mormon History Association. He will be available to sign copies of California/ West of the West immediately following his presentation. Don’t miss an engaging evening with one of California’s premiere historians.
